FAQ
  • Yo! What's up with the lamo L33t-speak?!

There’s nothing intentionally H4X0R about the title of this website. The number three replacing the letter E in REZ is simply a not-so-subtle way to indicate that the site is now in its third generation.

  • So, what was here before all this?

The very first version of the site was titled “elghazi.com”. It was first published sometimes around 1999. The site was highly-optimized, entirely hand-coded in HTML3 and without any use of cascading style sheets or fancy javascript. One of its cool features was a semi-functional Amiga Workbench page that demonstrated in an interactive way, a few of the shareware apps I had written back in the late 80’s.

The following major iteration of the site used a news address: rez.vg (the vg suffix stands for video game) and was rewritten with RapidWeaver, a template-based web design software for Mac.

The third generation was once again rewritten from scratch and this time using WordPress, probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management system in existence today. This is the second instance of this WordPress website.

  • Is your job to play video games all day?

Is a chef’s job to eat all day or is a doctor’s job to be sick all day?

Unless your goal is to be a professional eSports athlete, it’s very unlikely that you will find a job in the video games industry that pays you to play all day.

  • What's this cool music I hear all over your site?

It’s from Kind of Bloop, a chiptune 8-bit reinterpretation of Miles Davis legendary jazz masterpiece Kind of Blue.

  • What's this 8-bit font are you using?

It’s called Print Char 21 and it’s a pixel-perfect TrueType recreation of the classic Apple II bitmap font.

  • Is it safe?

Yes, it’s safe, it’s very safe, it’s so safe you wouldn’t believe it.
